Visit the Roofs of the Cathedral

As of November 2021, it is possible to explore the roofs of St. Martin's Cathedral, an unique and different perspective on Ourense.

St. Martin’s Cathedral Basilica offers the possibility of discovering its rooftops with a programme of special guided tours. The opening of this new space, highly demanded by tourists and neighbors who come to the monument, puts a finishing touch to the cultural visit of the Cathedral, one of Ourense’s architectural emblems.

Visits to the rooftops offer spectacular panoramic views of the city while allowing you to better observe and understand the different construction stages of the temple: its late Romanesque foundations and its Gothic, Baroque and modern additions. Access is from the Southern Tower (Plaza del Trigo) and the exit through the Northern Tower, to then continue the itinerary through the cathedral interiors, discovering its ambulatory, the main altar and the different chapels. The entrance fee includes both tours, since it incorporates the visit with an audio guide that the Cathedral had traditionally offered.

Visits to the roofs will take place on Fridays and Saturdays in three passes, at 11 am, 12 am and 01 pm, by prior reservation on the phone +34 608 505 531 or by email at courense@artisplendore.com. The general price is € 12 for adults € 2,5 for children under 12. As it is an outdoor tour, so it will be subject to weather conditions and demand (minimum groups of 5 people).

The same company that manages the visits to the Cathedral also offers the possibility of visiting the church of Santa María Nai, for a minimum group of 10 people, and with prior reservation.
