Visits to the Cathedral’s Bell Tower

Visitors to the Ourense Cathedral can now access its bell tower, a unique corner of the temple from which you can see magnificent views over the city of As Burgas. The Ourense temple has decided to open this space for tourist visits, thus extending the journey and knowledge of this late Romanesque church, one of the most important in Galicia and, without a doubt, the most important monument in Ourense.

The tower, whose structure is medieval but with a Renaissance façade, is crowned by the 8 Cathedral bells, all made in bronze. The oldest of these bells dates from 1700. All the bells keep ringing to announce the hours, quarters hours and half hours, in perfect harmony with each other. Each of these bells has its own name.
