Xantar, a delicious date in Ourense

From January 31st to February 4th Ourense turns to gastronomy. XANTAR returns, an event that brings the best of the stoves of Spain, Portugal and Latin America to the city.

A perfect plan to get to know Ourense, combining a thermal bath with a complete gastronomic experience. From January 31st to February 4th, Ourense turns to good cuisine at the hands of Xantar, the International Fair of Tourism and Gastronomy. The facilities of Expourense are transformed to host these intense days for professionals and the general public with an extensive menu that includes tastings, workshops, showcookings, etc. The fair will also recreate 15 restaurants of the different participating destinations that will offer specially designed menus for the event.

Portugal is the guest country this year. the event also includes interesting proposals dedicated to the enhancement of the products with Designation of Origin, highlighting the tunnels of cheese and wine. Xantar will also be the framework of the 5th Meeting of Gastronomy and Tourist Bloggers from Spain and Portugal.

Ourense, the host city, attends the fair with a double proposal, two menus that pay tribute to local cuisine. On the one hand, the traditional gourmet restaurant #SaboresdeOurense returns, where you can taste a menu consisting of 4 winning snacks from the tapas contest of the same name, accompanied by a sish of octopus, a local wine and a dessert. On the other, the Ourense Capital Termal restaurant will offer an unique luxury menu which evokes the city’s mineral-medicinal hot springs.

This year, the restaurants of Ourense have joined XANTAR with proposals with which to extend the gastronomic experience beyond the fair. Up to seven establishments will offer special menus at round prices during the days of the event. The offer is very varied, so do not forget to keep an eye on it.
